Spa Etiquette

Spa etiquette can be a source of anxiety for first-time spa-goers, but it's easy once you know a few basics. Here are some basic rules of spa etiquette to help you know what to expect and feel at ease.

Payments.  Payments are accepted in the form of cash, credit card, PayPal, & gift certificates.  If paying by credit card, or PayPal, a 3.25% fee will be added to your total payment.   Pre-payment may be required if you are from out of town, booking for someone other than yourself, or if you have previously not shown up for an appointment.

Cancellations  must be made 24 hours in advance.  Please try to make your scheduled appointment.  Failure to call within the 24 hour period to cancel may result in being required to pre-pay by credit card for future appointments.

Ask about the amenities when you make your appointment and think about what you would like to experience. Time to unwind in the hot tub? It will help relax you before your massage.

Take a Shower before you come.  It will freshen you up before your treatment. This step is especially important if you've spent time in a hot tub or pool, which has chlorinated water. You want to get those chemicals off, not have them massaged in.   A private bathroom, complete with a shower is available.

Arrive On Time.  You need a few minutes to fill out paperwork the first time.  Therefore, please arrive 10 or 15 minutes early on your first visit.  You don't need to get there too far in advance if all you're going to do is take your clothes off in the treatment room. Just leave yourself plenty of time to get there. There's nothing more stressful than racing to a massage. Better to get there a little early and relax than to get there late and miss part of your treatment.

Turn Off your Cell Phone.   You can't relax if you're answering calls, checking emails, and texting.

Stay In Your Spa Nudity Comfort Zone.   Massage is usually done nude, but you are covered with a sheet at all times in American spas. Only the part of the body being massaged is exposed. You can keep your underwear on, but it might limit the therapist's access to muscles that could use some work.

Speak Up About What You Want.    If you prefer a lighter (or deeper) touch, say so.  If something feels good, say so.  If ANYTHING makes you uncomfortable, SAY SO.  Your input is essential to getting what you need & what you want out of a great session.

Gratuities.   It is customary to give your therapist a gratuity of 15-25% of the total charge.  If you feel you were treated with great care, you should give a generous gratuity.  Gratuities are appreciated.  Please tip in cash, when possible.

Inappropriate Behavior.   Holistic Healing & Massage is a professional company & we plan to keep it that way.  Please do not come intoxicated, or inebriated.  Sexual advances will be grounds for refusal of service and the session will be terminated.  However, payment in full for all services will still be required.    Please be respectful.
